Good morning and welcome to another episode of Alexandra tries to commit to her blog once and for all.
I thought I’d share with you what novels I actually managed to finish through out my Severe September reading slump. And boy, it’s not pretty . . . I started so many books but wasn’t really able to get into them which is disappointing – but hopefully October is my ~month~
- Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel | ✰✰✰✰
I really related to this beautiful novel and ended up giving it a well deserved 4/5! It was the perfect book to read at the beginning of a new month, and I was really happy with it. I spoke more about in my latest review here if you want to hear more of my thoughts.

- They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera | ✰✰
Sarah and I host a young adult bookclub based here in Melbourne – rightfully named The YA Room – and TBDATE was chosen by you as our September BOTM. I know Sarah has really strong positive feelings for this book, and really appreciated it, I didn’t. I only gave this one 2/5 stars, and tbh . . . that was generous of me.I didn’t relate to any of the characters, and couldn’t wrap my head around Adam not really understanding how the world actually worked?
I’m posting a review soon to express more of my opinion/rage, so keep your eyes peeled for that!!

- Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon | ✰✰
Yet again, another book that was completely over hyped. And another disappointment AND YES I know I have really over used that word in this post and no, I’m not sorry.I was enjoying Everything, Everything so much that after a fortnight of barely reading, I managed to finish it within just two days – which is honestly a miracle in itself – and then bam, that “”””plot twist””””????? WoaH, #thatcopoutthoooo
The so called ‘plot twist’ complete ruined any love I had for this one and it really frustrated me. Out of all the spoilers I had seen about this movie and book, apparently the plot twist was never one of them.

I’m actually so bummed that out of the three books I managed to read this month, I only liked one of them. I finished Juniper Lemon first, which I really, really enjoyed, and that was only followed by two very awful books that I had heard so many amazing things about.
Have you read any of these books? What books do you usually read to pull you out of a reading slump?
To better reading months, and losing reading slumps!
